Greetings my fellow Americans and GM Eternal Members. Just wanted to drop everyone a friendly hello and best wishes for the New Year.
This year is already off to a great start and with our annual shows such as GM Woodley & Boystown already being discussed in our Events forum, I anticipate another great year for our club. Last months Motors For Toys was a great success and we even saw the start of a sister club from some old friends. Every week I hear talk about when is our next event, cruise, meet, etc. While this time of year brings us unpredictable weather, some times planning events can be a bit tedious. A GME favorite such as Angeles Crest Highway was decimated with last years fires leaving us a wasteland of ash and burnt trees. With rain in the forecast ACH is shut down pretty quick due to possible mudslides.
Last January Mark organized an awesome Malibu to Santa Barbara Run that was a huge success. It was a great way to kick off 2009. Unfortunately, this January/February 2010 the weather is not always in our favor, but we have decided to go forward with a Malibu Cyn Cruise/Lunch Run on February 21st. Rain or Shine. Details to follow. Just around the corner there’s a few GME’ers setting up to run at Willow Springs. Just a few weeks back we ran at Fontana / Auto club Speed way quarter mile. There is always something going on…..so please come join us!!
2009 also brought to the club some losses to our Officer Cabinet. For 2010 we are going to be considering filling some of those new openings. As the officers and I discuss and make some final decisions, we will bring to the table some possible candidates. More on that as information becomes available. The position of First Lady will remain open ended
Regarding the much anticipated 2009 Year End video, I just received word today I should have a disc made available by this weekend of the final piece of our 2009 Journey: El Mirage Footage!! Once received, I should have a final video up in just a matter of time. I have a few different montage/concepts for our final cut I want to experiment with. Bottom line, as always I promise you an awesome video that is representative of not only our awesome rides, but of those good people that make our club so great.
I am also pleased to announce, for the first time GM Eternal is going into a new endeavor. One in which I think will help in our success as a car club. We are in talks about opening up a new chapter out side of Southern California. There is still some foundation to be discussed but we’ve been in communication with some solid players who share our enthusiasm and love for our GM Rides and I think they got what it takes to carry the GM Eternal banner. More on that as we get closer to a launch date.
In closing, many of you are aware I have endured a drastic lifestyle change (I hope that sounded right
Here’s to you GM Eternal and to another great year in 2010!
